My little bit of UA-cam, having been inspired by many bloggers / vloggers I decided I would like to give a little back. I have learned so much from so many and this is my way of giving back. I will post videos based around camping and wild camping. I am unsponsored so all equipment is brought by me and any reviews are just my opinion but not infulenced by others.
Damper in a dutch oven - worlds worse FAIL !!!!!
Hi there, this weekend I thought I would have a go at Damper, I was at home with the kids so got them involved - although I crashed and burned (no pun intended) the bread actually tasted great.

Wild camping bits and bobs, odds and sods, all the little things, how to pack them. The goody bag
what’s the difference with the JPC-12? I have ordered it last week.
Thank you for giving a review of the Pac 12 antenna. I am interested in getting one for portable use and that was a nice review. I intend experimenting with 16 radials, ( u can use multi core wire,) of 2.5 metres length. More than 21 radials gives no great improvements. Also to make up a custom base and elevate the antenna and radials .5 to 1.0m of the ground. Your choice of operating position certainly paid off. 73 VK5WB
For some reason I have a Lanshan 2 and I find myself using my MSR Hubba more for solo kayaking and cycling. It revolves around the changing availability of pegging opportunities and the merits of a freestanding vs non-freestandiing tent if pegging is inadequate, and correlated ease of setup. I use rocks, plants and logs as tyout methods which substitute for pegging ops. Using these with non-freestanding is an interesting puzzle I seen to not prefer to regularly make either.
Where can I get this antenna?
Nice vid Davey. Was searching around for reviews on this tent and there are very few but think I'll put it on the buy soon list. As Clee Hill is about an hour from me it may well make it my next wild camp destination. Cheers
its a great tent, sold it to A Shropshire Lad, he had the previous version which was round 15 years old and was getting tired, it wanted an upgrade - enjoy the clee hills
Congratulations. 73 de KF4LBG
Davey where the hell did you find a black Lanshan!?
Now thats a question - was a rare find on AliExpress - no longer available - I still have it and I still use it - I do LOVE the lanshan's
Oh Bugger I really want a black one. Hate waking up with my eyes burning from the sunlight haha@@Daveyboygoeswild
Great stove, great design, great price. Its by far my favorite out of all my pack stoves
have only used it a few times, but yes I LOVE it, I tent to take stoves (gas) and funny enough, have used it most at home for cooking a steak when I fancy a BBQ one but here alone - cracking bit of kit.
so this tent works fine In winter? durable enough?
it is, but its small and as you can see I am big - I dried it after this and packed it away, I originally brought it fot the Great Glen Way but decided it was just a bit too small for a week, for a day or 2 its amazing but for me being a bit rounder shall we say its just too small - will list it on day for sale when I get around to it.
It always makes me cringe when I see grown men trying to impress people on UA-cam by drinking beer 🙄..what a saddo 🤦
well the important thing is your saw it, thanks for taking the time to comment
Great review. Thanks for posting. I was trying the antenna today and just threw the ribbon wire on the ground. I didn’t separate the ribbons or add anything else. The SWR was about 1.4 and I made lots of contacts. What is the advantage of more radials or splitting the included ribbon wire? It’s sure easier to only use one so unless there’s a really big difference I’m not sure if there’s a lot to gain by using several. I’m probably wrong. Anyway, looking forward to more testing.
I will be honest, I dont kow but having seen the DX Explorer video with all this radials I decided to do it, the SWR did come down a bit - I think it gives a more even radiation Patten and more of a grounding.
Add a 5.6 meter tele whip no coil required for 20 METERS
I haev the 5.6 meter tele whip, not tried it without the coils but works well with them will give it a shot, thanks.
@@Daveyboygoeswild it works treat just done a couple park with out on 20 meters and also other bands can be achieved
Enjyed the video! I received this same stove today and eas really impressed with it. I did steak and eggs with a skillet using the pot rests and wood for fuel. Came out great and was really efficient. Im looking forward to using it in the woods this winter
Glad you like, I use it at home too sometimes, well as in that video - its just fun and cooks a great steak. I brought a longer top plate from Firebox I think, will do an updated video soon. The new one i can do 1/2 dozen chicken wings on too :-)
Do you see the mess you are living in
Yes, thanks, and love it.
Bloody good effort sir, that looked pretty decent to me. Is that the same as ‘bannock bread’ I’ve seen these bushcraft types make??
Good morning Sir, yes basically the same - am going to be doing it again today, Keith is coming down and we are going to have a camp fire in the garden tonight, might be breaking out the squirrel cooker to cook something, dont know what yet.
Waiting for delivery of mine, but notice you have the bottom element (with the feed connector) upside down. Also being Chinese build is is all metric thread so 3/8th parts from other kits wont fit. I have been using EFHW and linked dipole wires on fibreglass tele poles but was looking for something with a smaller footprint (for on the beach and other areas with danger of people tangling in the Guys and lines) and a quick setup for use portable with the Xiegu X6100. Maybe one day our QSO's will meet...73 S7SWA
oooooh, never noticed that but thanks, will watch and switch it next time. it does seem to work really well that way so wonder if it will make a difference.
Just looking at a PAC12 myself, very good performance from it in your video.
I love it, it works really well, very pleased with it
cant make out if i liked the stove or the steak more :)
many thanks, have to say the steak was amazing - I like the big hole for adding more wood / coals - it works really well - the only thing I dont like is the grill is not fixed in place - have knocked it off once or twice - working on a fix.
@@Daveyboygoeswild I actually got this stove for myself. In my case the grill warped a bit after 1st use so i pay attention to put it "belly down". This keeps it in place assuming nothing sticks to it. When sticking may be an issue i simply use my knife or a stick to keep the grill down.
you got a room with a view!
yep pretty good views from up there
Hello Dav, nice video, greetings from Indonesia. How long is the cable running over the ground/Counterpoise? thank you for your answers
They were the one that came standard, dont knoe the exact length but think somewhere between 12 and 15 feet
That's shocking. So sad to see such an amazing vehicle end up in such away.
me too, very sad to se eher go
I want one of these, and have no issues carrying 3.5Kg for short hikes for single nights out. The WC Helm 3 is not quite as sturdy, costs more, but is lighter by around 300g or so. I regularly carry my scafell 300 + tarp which ids around 4kg total in a 15-16Kg pack. No problem at all if you're big and want a workout.
Hi Stevie its an amazing tent, I was out a few weeks back and we had constant 30mph winds, it didnt budge, we had 40mph gusts - I slept great. I had Keith with me in his (used to be mine) Cloud Peak 2, we had to put a tarp up and block the wind with the trucks as it was getting battered. - This tent is just amazing.
@@Daveyboygoeswild I never got one in the end, but I did get a nearly new Mirage Pro. It's not as spacious as the Halo, but it's even more sturdy. It's a semi geo tunnel rather than dome, but crikey it's strong.
So many thanks for sharing I'm still on the fence as to purchase worried about seem sealing or not ,if I do I will definitely use your mods ,once again thanks for sharing ,keep up the good work brother
I wouldnt worry about doing the sealing, watch a couple of videos, its SO EASY - its a great tent, and actually really does great in the wind - I have brought and sold a lot of tents but keep this one. Love it.
The ridgeline mod will be my first, after one night only the ridge of the inner is wet, wet, wet, it is clear that the ridge is a design failure from the start.
yep, they are a great tent once you sort out the two or 3 little issues, also make sure you seamseal around the tieout points
@@Daveyboygoeswild I have extended the cord that ties the ridge line, that has done the trick to keep the inner ridge away from the outer. I thought the Lanshan 2 came seam sealed, will keep an eye on the tie out points as you say.
Didn't anybody realize that the lowest element was mounted upside down (minute 2.31)? The metal part with the SO-239 connector needs to be on the ground side and the fiber tube on top, as this is the isolator for the radiating core wire!
I didnt notice to be fair, and it didnt seem to make much of a difference ? will watch out for it tomorrow when I am out again
yes i did notice that but if he has been using it the other way up i don`t think it would make much difference ? i don`t know having just bought one i will have to try.
Put this symbol : In timecode it will link the timestamp. Ie 2:31
Great vid, you show the things I love about the hobby, out and about QRP and enjoying the scenery. As long as the RF gets out your doing great. Please continue to enjoy. 73 Mike

Sure is and shhhh tint tell everyone but you can get there without driving through the water, so dude you have to come one time, it’s an hour from my house, probably closer for you. Plenty of hammock and tent spots. God the 3 of us snoring away may cause a little earthquake in Herefordshire

Hi Thanks for the interesting video, after watching I immediately went out and purchased the same battery and antenna for my upcoming motorhome trip to Western Scotland, tested the battery and it's absolutely awesome, not tested antenna yet but I'm expecting same results as you....Happy Days and Thanks Again G1YPQ
Glad it helped, let me know what you think of it and the battery Enjoy !! 73's
Now that you have owned the aerial a while is it worth the money. I am in the process of perfecting my DIY Loading coils for my homebrew aerial. Cheers from old George "Mick" G1BKI

Nice video. Thanks. What are the dimensions when assembled?
thats a great question, somewhere between 12 and 18 inches long and 4 - 6 wide, sorry I cant be more precise, you can google it, I am guessing off the top of my head
Well done mate. It's a great antenna and radio, I run the same for portable. sTePhEn - FOO WAS HERE Down Under :)
Many thanks. It is a great setup.
FOO is now in Yeoju-si ROK portable 5 storey roof top. Same gear, FT8
Hello. Can it be useful for shortwave listeners?
Yes, absolutely, it covers all HF bands, and works well for both TX and RX
@@Daveyboygoeswild Thank you!
After watching this video I’ve ordered the antenna, I have a similar one the slidwinder coil antenna which is extremely good but I do like the look of this one 73 M7XIX
Hi, I would be curious as would others to get your thoughts also on the antenna
Nice mods. Also, love that you filmed this in a public park. It's not easy always easy to get out into the wilds!

first of your videos i watch i found you through Dave and Gord ..... are you originally australian?
HI Sheldon, sorry for my delay. Nope, English but I lived in the USA for 10 years so thats what you can hear
@@Daveyboygoeswild i lived both in the UK and the US but you dont sound like either you have this Melbourne tone to you 😀
Excellent video. I've just recently started testing the same antenna. Absolutely incredible performance. Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you like it, I think its an amazing antenna
Nice video. However, am I seeing correctly about a constant flashing/flicker problem with the digital display on that radio? Or was it just the effect of the camera you were filming it with?
Camera affect caused by differences in radio display and camera frame rates
yep, its the camera effect, will keep working on it
Brilliant, I never thought to mark my gas cannister like that. Top tip👍
As long as you know how many boils you get out of a can its great, then you can work out which ones to take depending on how may brews you think you will do
Did the stove warp in anyway? Foxy
Hi, sorry for the delay - I have been using it for the past 8 months and it does warp slightly but not enough to make using it difficult or putting it away and setting it up, its still great
Exciting video, thanks ! How do you think it would work on the beach with the salt water as grounding ? I soon live around 50 metre from the beach and intend to sit there with a portable antenna. This PAC-12 is quite affordable, compared to the Buddipole I looked at for 800 $. I think I will use my G 90 with 20 Watt as it is as small as your Yeasu. What do you think ? Would the sea wind, that can be quite significant, make it impossible to put it on the beach without guying ?
It works amazingly well. I just did a test set up on salt water Wild portable. Finland to Australia on 10 watts.
I have never used by salt water but going on what OH8STN say's it works well - I have seen youtube videos with grounding to the salt water of other antenna's and it always seems to work really well
thats a nice QSO - well done. next time I am by a beech I will try this myself
Excellent video just getting interested in ham been watching lots of videos on it this is the best one fantastic for someone how is just going to start well done
